Market Square
Market Square is the economic capital of Alinea. Whether you are looking to buy, sell or trade, Market Square is the place to be.
Structure of the Square
Market Square is divided into plots, which shopkeepers can rent, and use to sell their goods. There are plots of various sizes, from small 3x5m stalls to entire buildings. For our new players, we also offer free pop-up barrels, which can be used for up to a week at a time.
The full-size buildings are still under construction, but we hope to have them available soon. In the meantime, you can use the pop-up stalls, or rent a market stall.
Pop-up Barrels
Pop-up barrels are perfect for new players, or people who just want to try out a business idea. They are free to use, but can only be used for 3 days at a time.
- Free of Charge
- Don't worry about rent, these plots are free to use.
- Temporary
- One pop-up plot can be used for up to 3 days. After that, you will have to move out, or find a different pop-up plot.
- Small
- You just get four barrels, and that's it. You cannot add more.
Market Stall
Market Stalls are the perfect space for established shops that sell between 10 and 20 different items.
- Affordable
- Pay a weekly rent ranging from 7 cc to 162 cc depending on the plot size and location.
- Use Forever
- As long as the weekly rent is paid, you can use the plot for as long as you like.
Market Square Rules
When occupying a plot in Market Square, you have to follow some rules. These rules keep the square looking nice, fair for everyone, and lower the administrative burden on the server staff.
- Don't build outside your plot. A few signs or banners sticking out are fine, or a small overhang as part of the roof is usually okay, as long as it's not adjacent to another plot.
- Don't build over 5m high, and don't build underground.
- Keep your plot well-lit, to prevent mobs from spawning.
- You can only own one plot at a time. Alt accounts do not increase this limit.
- You must actively use your plot. Not building a stall, or not regularly stocking it, is considered inactive.
- For pop-up barrels, you must edit the bottom-right sign to include your name and the date you started using the plot. For market stalls and buildings, you must put your name on the sign for the plot in the town hall. If you co-own a plot, only list one name.
If you don't follow these rules, you may be evicted. We may try to give a warning first, but we cannot guarantee it.
Rent Prices
Rent is collected every Sunday. This means you have Monday–Saturday to pay your rent. If you don't pay by Sunday, you will be evicted.
Rent has to be paid in the town hall, which is located at the South end of Market Square. You can pay by placing the correct amount of coins in the payment barrel. If you pay too much, the extra coins will be considered a donation to the rent collector. Paying for multiple weeks in advance is not possible.
If you fail to pay rent, you will be evicted. The items you were selling will be removed, and we cannot guarantee they will be returned to you.
Below is a list of all the market stalls available in Market Square. The rent prices are calculated based on the size of the plot, and the location in the square. The rent prices are subject to change, so make sure to check the town hall for the most up-to-date prices.
