Enchanting
Alinea changes the enchantment system in three main ways:
- It changes some vanilla enchantments to have a higher maximum level.
- It allows some enchantments to go beyond their base maximum level, turning them unstable, and requiring a costly polishing process to stabilise them.
- It adds new enchantments that are not available in vanilla Minecraft, such as Quarry and Orb Booster
Enchantment Level Limits
The following table shows the maximum stable and unstable levels for each enchantment. As you can see, some vanilla enchantments have been changed to have a higher maximum level.

Unstable Enchanting
Some enchantments can be pushed beyond their stable maximum level to become unstable. The catch is that unstable enchantments cannot be used until they are stabilised.
To stabilise an enchantment, you must combine it with enchantment polish in an anvil. You will need one unit of polish for each level of the enchantment beyond its stable maximum. Enchantment polish can be crafted, but requires a lot of lapis lazuli and diamonds.
Due to its cost, unstable enchanting is considered an end-game process.
Alinea Enchantments
Alinea adds many new enchantments to the game. Below is an overview of our enchantments.
Binding
keepInventory
game rule. When the player dies, all items with binding will lose a level of binding, until they reach level I, after which they will lose the binding enchantment entirely. Players can re-apply the binding enchantment to their items using an anvil and an enchanted book.
Bulk Breaking Enchantments
Excavator
Excavator is an enchantment for shovels that will increase the radius of blocks that are broken when the player mines a block. Much like the Quarry enchantment, the radius only extends horizontally, and not vertically, and never to blocks that have another block above them. The maximum number of blocks broken at once by an Excavator-enchanted shovel depends on the level of the enchantment.

Excavator only applies to clay, dirt, gravel, sand, grass, and snow.
Harvest
Harvest is an enchantment for hoes, that much like Quarry and Excavator will increase the radius of blocks that are broken when the player breaks a crop. The maximum number of crops broken by a harvest-enchanted hoe will increase by the level of the enchantment. This means that a high-level harvester-enchanted hoe can potentially harvest an entire field of crops in a single swing.

Quarry
Quarry is an enchantment for pickaxes that will increase the radius of blocks that are broken when the player mines a block. The radius only extends horizontally, and not vertically, and never to blocks that have another block above them. The maximum number of blocks broken at once by a Quarry-enchanted pickaxe depends on the level of the enchantment.

Tree Feller
When an axe enchanted with Tree Feller is used to break a log block, it will also break all log blocks connected to it, up to a certain limit, and prioritising higher blocks. The maximum number of blocks broken at once by a tree feller-enchanted axe depends on the level of the enchantment.

Charged Enchantments
Charged Silk Touch
Charged silk touch is the charged variant of the silk touch enchantment. A pickaxe enchanted with charged silk touch will be able to break a spawner without destroying it. The spawner will drop as an item and can be placed again somewhere else. It is the only way to move spawners.
Charged silk touch can only be obtained through a maximum-level librarian villager, where it will cost a stack of enchantment polish, or as a very rare loot item from a dungeon chest.
Charged Silk Touch will always be paired with Curse of Fragility and Curse of Immutability. This makes any charged silk touch pickaxe will break after a single use and cannot be repaired.
Charged Unbreaking
Charged unbreaking is the charged variant of the unbreaking enchantment. Items enchanted with charged unbreaking will never lose durability, and will thus never break. Charged unbreaking can only be obtained through a maximum-level librarian villager, where it will cost a stack of enchantment polish. It always comes with curse of immutability, which makes the item unrepairable. This means it is important to only apply the enchantment to items that will never need another enchantment applied to them.
Curses
Curse of Butterfingers
Items enchanted with the Curse of Butterfingers will have a chance to be dropped when the player swings the item, for example, when attacking an entity or breaking a block. The chance of the item being dropped depends on the level of the curse.
Enchantment Level | Chance of Dropping |
---|---|
I | 1.00% |
II | 1.02% |
III | 1.04% |
IV | 1.19% |
V | 1.54% |

Curse of Fragility
Items enchanted with Curse of Fragility will break instantly when they lose any amount of durability. When paired with Warranty, the item will essentially lose a level of warranty for every point of durability lost.
Curse of Immutability
Items which have been cursed with immutability cannot have any new enchantments applied to them, or have any existing enchantments upgraded. All equipment obtained through villager trading or through mob drops will have Curse of Immutability. It also always comes on any tool with a charged enchantment.
Curse of Inexperience
Curse of Inexperience is the opposite of the Orb Booster enchantment. Items enchanted with Curse of Inexperience will not drop any experience orbs when they are used to break blocks or kill entities.
Crusher
Pickaxes or shovels enchanted with Crusher will have a probability to 'crush' the block they are used to break. What exactly this means depends on the block being broken.
Block | Item Dropped |
---|---|
Andesite | Gravel |
Cobblestone | Gravel |
Deepslate Bricks | Cracked Deepslate Bricks |
Deepslate Tiles | Cracked Deepslate Tiles |
Diorite | Gravel |
Granite | Gravel |
Gravel | Sand |
Nether Bricks | Cracked Nether Bricks |
Polished Blackstone Bricks | Cracked Polished Blackstone |
Red Sand | Clay |
Sand | Clay |
Stone Bricks | Cracked Stone Bricks |
Stone Slab | Cobblestone Slab |
Stone Stairs | Cobblestone Stairs |
Each level of crusher increases the probability of the block being crushed by 10%, maxing out at 100% at level X.
Hoover
When a player mines a block or kills an entity with a hoover-enchanted tool, the items that would normally drop will instead teleport directly into the player's inventory. It is particularly useful in combination with Vein Miner and Quarry enchantments, as it will hoover up all the items at once.
Orb Booster
Orb Booster is an enchantment for weapons and tools that will increase the amount of experience orbs dropped from blocks mined or entities killed. The amount it increases by 10% per level.
Enchantment Level | Experience Multiplier |
---|---|
I | 1.10× |
II | 1.21× |
III | 1.33× |
IV | 1.46× |

XIII | 3.45× |
XIV | 3.80× |

XVI | 4.59× |
XVII | 5.05× |
XVIII | 5.56× |
XIX | 6.12× |
XX | 6.73× |
Planter
When a hoe with planter is used to break a crop, and the player has seeds of the same type in their inventory, the seeds will be replanted in the same block automatically. This enchantment is particularly useful in combination with Harvest, as it will allow the player to harvest and replant an entire field of crops in a single swing.
Stone Grafting
Stone Grafting works similar to Mending, but uses up stone instead of experience. Items enchanted with Stone Grafter will repair when the player picks up any stone block. Below is a list of blocks that are considered stone for the purpose of the stone grafter enchantment:
- Andesite
- Blackstone
- Cobbled Deepslate
- Cobblestone
- Deepslate
- Diorite
- Endstone
- Granite
- Sandstone
- Stone
- Terracotta
- Tuff
Warranty
When an item with Warranty runs out of durability, instead of breaking, it will be repaired to full durability, and a level of warranty will be consumed.
